IS DEATH AN ILLUSION?

Most scientists would probably say that the concept of an afterlife is either nonsense, or at the very least unprovable.
Yet one expert claims he has evidence to confirm an existence beyond the grave – and it lies in quantum physics.
Professor Robert Lanza
claims the theory of biocentrism teaches that death as we know it is an illusion created by our consciousness.
‘We think life is just the activity of carbon and an admixture of molecules – we live a while and then rot into the ground,’ said the scientist on his website.
Lanza, from Wake Forest University School of Medicine in North Carolina, continued that as humans we believe in death because ‘we’ve been taught we die’, or more specifically, our consciousness associates life with bodies and we know that bodies die.
His theory of biocentrism, however, explains that death may not be as terminal as we think it is.

LANZA’S THEORY OF BIOCENTRISM AND THE AFTERLIFE

Biocentrism is classed as the Theory of Everything and comes from the Greek for ‘life center’.
It is the belief that life and biology are central to reality and that life creates the universe, not the other way round.
Lanza uses the example of the way we perceive the world around us.
A person sees a blue sky, and is told that the color they are seeing is blue, but the cells in a person’s brain could be changed to make the sky look green or red.
universe

Our consciousness makes sense of the world, and can be altered to change this interpretation.
By looking at the universe from a biocentric’s point of view, this also means space and time don’t behave in the hard and fast ways our consciousness tell us it does.
In summary, space and time are ‘simply tools of our mind.’
Once this theory about space and time being mental constructs is accepted, it means death and the idea of immortality exist in a world without spatial or linear boundaries.
Theoretical physicists believe that there is infinite number of universes with different variations of people, and situations taking place, simultaneously.
Lanza added that everything which can possibly happen is occurring at some point across these multiverses and this means death can’t exist in ‘any real sense’ either.
‘Bottom line: What you see could not be present without your consciousness,’ explained Lanza. ‘Our consciousness makes sense of the world.’

HOW THE DOUBLE-SLIT EXPERIMENT SUPPORTS LANZA’S THEORY

In the experiment, when scientists watch a particle pass through two slits in a barrier, the particle behaves like a bullet and goes through one slit or the other.
Yet if a person doesn’t watch the particle, it acts like a wave.
This means it can go through both slits at the same time. This demonstrates that matter and energy can display characteristics of both waves and particles, and that the behavior of the particle changes based on a person’s perception and consciousness.
Lanza added that everything which can possibly happen is occurring at some point across these multiverses and this means death can’t exist in ‘any real sense’ either.
Lanza, instead, said that when we die our life becomes a ‘perennial flower that returns to bloom in the multiverse.’
He continued: ‘Life is an adventure that transcends our ordinary linear way of thinking. When we die, we do so not in the random billiard-ball-matrix but in the inescapable-life-matrix.’
Lanza cited the famous double-slit experiment to backup his claims.

It would just be too much money and too challenging

NASA_ big_ rocket

When NASA’s next big rocket launches for the first time, chances are good it won’t have people on board.

For the last two months, the space agency has been studying what it would take to fly a crewof two on the maiden flight of the Space Launch System, or SLS — the monster rocket that NASA has been developing to take people into deep space and on to Mars. Specifically, NASA wanted to know if such a crewed flight could be done safely by 2019. But after figuring out the costs and challenges associated with putting astronauts on that inaugural mission, called EM-1, NASA says doing a crewed flight first wouldn’t be the best way to go.

“IT IS DIFFICULT TO ACCOMMODATE CHANGES NEEDED FOR A CREWED EM-1 MISSION AT THIS TIME.”

“After evaluating cost, risk, and technical factors in a project of this magnitude, it is difficult to accommodate changes needed for a crewed EM-1 mission at this time,” NASA’s acting administrator, Robert Lightfoot, sent in an email to agency employees that was obtained by The Verge.

So for now, it seems that NASA will stick with its original strategy for debuting the SLS: doing an uncrewed flight first, followed by a crewed mission. However, the vehicle’s targeted launch dates are probably going to slip a bit. Originally, NASA had planned to launch the first SLS mission in November 2018, sending an uncrewed spacecraft called Orion on a three-week trip around the Moon. That mission plan still stands, but technical challenges and limited budgets are forcing NASA to push back the launch date to 2019. An exact date will be decided upon in the coming months. A follow-up flight with crew inside Orion is tentatively scheduled for no earlier than 2021, but will probably be pushed back as well.

NASA_spacecraft

NASA only started thinking about changing the mission plan earlier this year, after Lightfoot sent out a memo to employees saying NASA would study the feasibility of putting people on the first fight of the SLS. NASA later admitted that appointees for the Trump administration had directed the agency to look into that possibility, according to Space News.

Lightfoot said in press conference today that putting a crew on the first flight of the SLS was technically feasible. However, a lot of technologies would have to be accelerated, such as a life support system to keep the crew alive and abort system that could save the crew in case of an emergency during flight. Plus it would have cost a lot more money, approximately between $600 million and $900 million extra, and NASA would have needed additional time to pull it off. Lightfoot said that a 2020 flight was more likely if people needed to be on board. So NASA conferred with the White House and agreed that the best route would be stick with its original plan all along.

PUTTING CREW ON THE FIRST FLIGHT OF A NEW VEHICLE ISN’T USUALLY HOW NASA DOES THINGS

Putting crew on the first flight of a new vehicle isn’t usually how NASA does things, though. Typically, the agency does an uncrewed test flight first to determine if a vehicle is safe. The Saturn V rocket, for instance, did a mission without passengers before crew rode on board, and the future space taxis that SpaceX and Boeing are developing to take NASA astronauts to and from the International Space Station will fly empty first to make sure they are safe for crew. However, one notable exception to this rule was the first flight of the Space Shuttle, which carried a crew of two into orbit around Earth. It was a bold move at the time, but NASA needed a pilot in the Shuttle to control the vehicle’s landing.

It’s been bad news for the SLS program in recent weeks. NASA admitted that part of a propellant tank needed for testing out the rocket was damaged at the agency’s Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans. And one of NASA’s associate administrators, Bill Gerstenmaier, acknowledged to the Government Accountability Office two weeks ago that the first flight of SLS would likely slip to 2019.

New variations of the ransomware have begun to surface

WannaCry_ransomware_ attack_ has_ spread_ to_ 150_ countries

Since its discovery on Friday afternoon, the WannaCry ransomware attack has continued to spread this weekend, impacting over 10,000 organizations and 200,000 individuals in over 150 countries, according to European authorities. However, while measures have been taken to slow the spread of the malware, new variations have begun to surface.
This morning, Europol Director Rob Wainwright told the BBC that the cyberattack is “unprecedented in its scale,” and noted that it will likely continue as people return to work on Monday. While Microsoft took the unusual step to issue a patch for Windows XP, the patch will only work if installed, and authorities have been warning businesses to ensure that their systems are updated.
The ransomware attack began on Friday afternoon, where it affected England’s National Health Service, prompted automaker Renault to idle factories in France, and many others. A 22-year-old cybersecurity expert known as MalwareTech slowed the attack by registering a domain name he discovered in the ransomware’s code. He told the BBC that another attack is likely coming soon, one that works around his fix.
Researchers have since discovered two new variations of the ransomware. One has been blocked with another domain name registration, but the other variant has no kill switch, but is only partially working.
The software exploits a security flaw in Windows XP, and once it infects a computer, it encrypts the files and spreads to other computers. Victims receive a demand for a payment of $300 in Bitcoin in order to regain access. However, despite the widespread nature of the attack, it’s believed that the perpetrators have only raised around $20,000 in payments.

Wainwright said that businesses should ensure that their systems are updated with the latest security patches to help prevent further infections and to slow the spread of the ransomware. He noted that Europol is working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation to try and discover the people behind the attack.

Renault _French factories_logo

As the massive WannaCry ransomware attack spread to over 100 countries this weekend, French automaker Renault halted production in several of its factories on Saturday, according to a spokesperson.
Speaking to Automotive News, the spokesperson confirmed that the company shut down production in its Sandouville factory, saying that “proactive measures have been put in place, including the temporarily suspension of industrial activity at some sites," but declined to provide a full list of affected sites. Renault’s partner company Nissan was also affected: a UK spokesperson confirmed that files at its Sunderland factory were impacted on Friday night, but wouldn’t confirm reports that production was halted. A Renault spokesperson told Reuters that the company expects that “nearly all plants” will reopen on Monday.

The WannaCry ransomware attack began on Friday, impacting computers at UK hospitals, utilities in Spain, and Russia’s interior ministry. The attack uses an exploit known as EternalBlue, which is thought to have been developed by the NSA to break through security on Windows computers. Yesterday, Microsoft took the unusual step of issuing a Windows XP patch to help prevent the attack, while a 22-year-old cybersecurity researcher seems to have defused the attack by registering a single web address.

Microsoft_create_ iOS_ and_ Android_ apps_ with_ Windows

At Build 2017, Microsoft showed off the cross-platform power of its .NET framework, by demonstrating how apps could be easily created on a Windows PC and work on iOS, Android, and Windows all through a single shared code base.
But Microsoft didn’t stop there. While the .NET Standard 2.0 code base allows apps to share code, the original XAML libraries for building user interfaces weren’t cross compatible. So, Microsoft also announced XAML Standard 1.0, a unified markup language for user interface elements that works across Windows, iOS, and Android.
Or, in simpler terms — Microsoft now has a shared code library that allows developers to easily create apps for all three platforms with the same user interface with a minimal amount of effort. Which can only be a good thing for everyone, regardless of the OS you prefer.

Additionally, Microsoft announced functionality for developing iOS apps directly from a Windows PC using a new tool called the Xamarin Live Player. It’s an iOS application that developers can pair with Visual Studio and deploy code to an iOS device, while still maintaining the same debugging utilities of Visual Studio. Developers will also be able to use the same live editing tools from Visual Studio in iOS developement.

Get the Most from Your Lemons
Lemon peels have 5-10 more vitamins than their juice.
Dr. Marilyn Glenville, a nutritionist, and expert on women’s health explains that the combination of fresh peels can do good to the overall health. Here is what she said for BBC food:
“Most of the antioxidants included in fruit are included in the peel or the pith rather than in the pulp.”
Dr. Glenville also suggested:
“Smoothie is far better than a juice, since you can consume the whole fruit including the peel, and you will not throw away a single nutrient from the fruit.”
Citrus fruits are not quite favorite, mostly due to the bitter taste of their skin. But, we give you a recipe that will help you pull out the maximum of your lemons of course, without the bitter flavor.
Freeze your lemons
  • Wash and disinfect your lemons with organic apple cider vinegar or baking soda.
  • Rinse them well using water, and pat them dry using a towel.
  • Freeze your lemons overnight.
  • Once you notice they are completely frozen, grate the whole lemon. Yes, pulp, peel, seeds and all.
  • Transfer your grated lemons into ice cube trays, and store them in the freezer. In this way, you can use them whenever you need a hint of citrus fruit.
Then, use it on whatever you are eating. Lemon peels will give a stronger taste to your dishes. Add some grated lemon peels to your salads, soups, yogurt, pasta sauces or homemade ice cream.
Add a tablespoon of your grated lemons to your smoothie, juice or tea. They go well in baked goods as well. Trust your imagination; there are millions of ways to use grated lemons.
